Wallets are timeless pieces, but there are many things to consider when making a wallet, bulk, escaping cards, ease of use and weak points are just a few.

You will gain an understanding of the foundational wallet, how to correctly measure the pockets, body and bend to ensure it is fit for purpose.

With this foundational knowledge, you will have the ability to make a beautiful item that is an ideal foundational piece that can be built upon. Adjustment in size, addition of extra pockets or perhaps a bill-fold.

Troll Wallet

Armitage Leather Making a Troll Wallet

Called so, because it is so massive that only a Mountain Troll can carry it… or a Polar Bear?

This  is a lovely progression on from the Card Wallet, here, we look at adding more pockets, how to size that addition and also a Bill-Fold.
In resizing, we also look at taking the cards from portrait to landscape to accommodate more cards without vastly increasing the thickness.
The one in the video is made from Russian Hatch leather and has been used daily since completion. Step by step, a lot of focus in this build is the learning to follow a good order of process.

From template making, to cutting the leather and finishing processes this project will teach you how to think Big!

Classic Knife Sheath

Armitage Leather classic Knife Sheath Introduction

Bushcraft begins here! This is a classic design. A friction and gravity held knife sheath.

Over two hours of instruction given across five videos, showing how the initial design is developed from the tasks we ask of the sheath, rather than a primary concept of style.

The size and shape of the knife is not important, in this series, a larger knife has been used to offer more clarity.
We look at what a sheath needs, how it can fail, what jobs we expect it to do, how to measure a knife, choice and size of the welt, how to stitch multiple layers along with our core skills, Template Making, Cutting, Stitching, Creasing and Dressing.

You don’t need to make it out of crocodile skin to know that, “that’s a knife… Sheath!”

Day Bag

Armitage Leather Day Bag Introduction

A three pocket Day Bag that has a classic feel and a delightful gusset system. With a Cotton Webbing strap and Billet Hook attachments.

It is a challenging build but with a rewarding end result. Almost five hours of detailed instruction that will introduce you to bag making at designer level.

In this build, we employ a three part gusset system which changes the look of the pockets from sunken to swelled. This gives more volume to the bag without a notable increase in size.
This is a fantastic example to examine why order of process is so important.

Disclaimer, called a day bag because it can be used every day, not because you can make it in a day!

The Horseshoe Bag

Armitage Leather Horseshoe Bag Strap

This stylised bag is loosely based on an historic design used to cary spare horseshoes in the times when riders would travel great distances and have to be self-sufficient.

This is a challenging and detailed project which is reflected in nearly six hours of expert information found in this collection of videos. It includes instruction from template creation to finishing touches. It also has detailed steps on how to add a lining and how that lining can be hidden by a leather trim.
The result is a stunning contemporary bag that is both beautiful and practical.

Turn heads by bringing history together with modern methods and fashion, to create this fabulous piece of craftsmanship.

The Tote Bag

Armitage Leather Tote Bag Introduction

This Tote once made, will probably be too valuable to be just a shopping bag!

The one I made in the videos has been in use almost daily for over a year and has been a practical, as well as attractive transportation, for the myriad objects required to accompany its owner from place to place.

Taught in over three hours of videos, the templates of the project and the use of simple seams and rectangular pieces, are an achievable build for an established adept.
This bag employs a two part gusset system meaning a thicker leather can be used which lends structure to the item and extreme durability.
It also means, the bag does not need to be turned.

The bag that really is a bag for Life!

The Development of a Bag is a study in Bag Making.
The series is covered using five projects over eight videos giving you more than 11 hours of instruction.
In this series, we look at design and template making at each level.
The series starts with a simple slip sheath as project 1. Project 2, looks at how we add a flap to that and calculate the bend for it.
Project 3 examines how to add a gusset to the design and it is at this stage we begin to see a bag emerge.
Project 4 tackles a more complex shape to our design allowing us to create more individual pieces.
The series comes to conclusion with the Saddle Bag.
